   Prof. Ismail Serageldin Prof. Ismail Serageldin

        Ismail Serageldin, Director, Library of Alexandria, also chairs the Boards of Directors for each of the BA's affiliated research institutes and museums and is Distinguished Professor at Wageningen University in the Netherlands. He serves as Chair and Member of a number of advisory committees for academic, research, scientific and international institutions and civil society efforts which includes the Institut d'Egypte (Egyptian Academy of Science), TWAS (Third World Academy of Sciences), the Indian National Academy of Agricultural Sciences and the European Academy of Sciences and Arts. He is former Chairman, Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research (CGIAR, 1994-2000), Founder and former Chairman, the Global Water Partnership (GWP, 1996-2000) and the Consultative Group to Assist the Poorest (CGAP), a microfinance program (1995-2000). Serageldin has also served in a number of capacities at the World Bank, including as Vice President for Environmentally and Socially Sustainable Development (1992-1998), and for Special Programs (1998-2000). He has published over 50 books and monographs and over 200 papers on a variety of topics including biotechnology, rural development, sustainability, and the value of science to society. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in engineering from Cairo University and Masters' degree and a PhD from Harvard University and has received 18 honorary doctorates.

   Prof. Mostafa K. Tolba Prof. Mostafa K. Tolba

        Mostafa K. Tolba (b. 1922) is president of the International Center for Environment and Development and the former executive director of the United Nations Environment Program. B.S. (botany), Cairo University (1943); Ph.D., University of London (1949). Professor of microbiology, Cairo University (1968-); Undersecretary of State, Egyptian Ministry of Education (1965~1971); Minister of Youth & President of the Academy of Scientific Research & Technology (1971~1973). Executive Director, UNEP (1976-1992); contributed articles to professional journals; recipient, Science and Technology of the 1st Order Award, Egypt (1950); State Prize of Egypt in Biology (1959); Arab Representative of Egypt of 1st Order Award (1981); Only One Earth Award from the Rene Dubos Centre; fellow, Imperial College, London (1988).
Prof. Tolba has been on the board of directors of the World Resources Institute, Aspen Institute of Humanistic Studies, International Conference on Genetics, International Institute on Environment and Development, the Egyptian Botanical Society, Institut d'Egypt, and other organizations.

Prof. Salah Soliman Prof. Salah Soliman

        Salah Soliman is a Professor at the Department of Pesticide Chemistry and Toxicology, Alexandria University. He was a Senior Research Scientist with the US Environmental Protection Agency during the late seventies and early eighties. He was twice invited as a visiting professor at the University of Texas Medical Branch. He serves the International Program on Chemical Safety of the World Health Organization since 1992 as a temporary advisor and he became the Vice Chairman of the Risk Assessment Steering Group, since it was established in 1999. He acts in teaching under- and postgraduate courses in physical chemistry and toxicology at both Alexandria and King Saud Universities. Prof. Soliman is a member of the Society of Toxicology and many other related scientific associations. He was awarded the Egyptian First Class Badge of Honor for Science and Art in 1981.

     Prof. Aleya Abdel-Hadi Prof. Aleya Abdel-Hadi
        Aleya Abdel-Hadi (b.1943) is Professor Emeritus of Interior Design at the Faculty of Fine-Arts, Cairo , Helwan University . Member of IAPS (51) - The International Association of People Environment Studies – since 1981, her research interest is on Socio-Spatial Organization: Housing. Since 2002, she is Head of the Décor Section and the Committee of Women at the Syndicate of Egyptian Fine-Artists. Served (2001-2003) as Vice-Dean for Post Graduate Studies and Research at Fine-Arts Cairo, Helwan University, (1998-2000) Dean of the College of Architecture and Art at the University of Petra, Amman, Jordan, (1995-1998) Head of Interior Design Department, Univ. of Petra, Amman, Jordan. Ph.D. (1986) & MA (1976) from Fine-Arts Cairo , Helwan Univ. , BA (1965) Fine- Arts, Alexandria (Awarded the Prize of Excellence from President Nasser on Science Day). In addition to her academic and research work, she practiced her profession of Interior Designer and participated in several Art Exhibitions in Egypt , Jordan , Italy , Spain , Paris and Russia.
